Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy is a collaborative process whereby you and your psychologist work together to understand root causes of emotional distress or concern while exploring avenues for change and personal growth.

Dr. Crain has over 15 years of specialized clinical training and experience in working with adults experiencing the effects of trauma and related disorders, bipolar disorders, and personality disorders. Psychotherapy with Dr. Crain involves 1:1 collaboration, assisted exploration of history and experience, and carefully implemented intervention. Dr. Crain utilizes a variety of techniques and concepts to individualize each person’s psychotherapy. She is certified in EMDR and integrates a variety of techniques involving “parts work” (similar to Internal Family Systems), Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and psychodynamic approaches.

Dr. Pratt has years of specialized training and experience working with people who have a wide range of anxieties and worries that impact their daily life. She utilizes a range of therapeutic models and interventions tailored specifically to each person’s needs. A basis of much of her work is in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help shift unhelpful thinking and behavior patterns. She integrates significant mindfulness, parts-work, and dynamic approaches as well.

EMDR

EMDR is a treatment approach often used to address the negative impacts of traumatic memory and experience. This approach is empirically validated and approved by both the American Psychological Association and American Psychiatric Association for the treatment of Posttraumatic Stress Disorder. EMDR can also be integrated into treatment for concerns associated with, but not limited to, relational difficulties, depression and anxiety, burnout, and heightened stress.

Dr. Crain is an EMDR certified clinician. She has completed extensive training in the use of EMDR for a variety of concerns. She has successfully utilized EMDR in working with individuals having experienced a variety of traumatic events.

Psychological Evaluations

Psychological evaluations are often a key piece of determining accurate psychological diagnoses. Accuracy in diagnosis assists with appropriate treatment planning, academic planning, and can assist physicians with selecting appropriate medications for their patients. Psychological evaluations are also used to develop recommendations regarding fitness to return to duty and to assess treatment progress. At Crain Psychological Specialists, we offer psychological evaluations for children (beginning at age 7) through adulthood. We use the most empirically validated tests available to provide highly accurate diagnoses and well-informed recommendations.

Adoption Evaluations

Dr. Pratt provides psychological assessment for couples and individuals in their final steps of the process for determining readiness to adopt a child/children. Dr. Pratt works with the adoptive family and their adoption agency to tailor the assessment and final report based on the requirements of the child’s country of residence.

Unfortunately, we are not accepting new patients at this time. Something something referrals.
